To sustain our efforts, we conduct online fundraising campaigns and accept essential supplies such as food, beverages, appropriate seasonal attire, toiletries, and hygiene items, as well as various outdoor survival accessories, which are generously donated by both the general public and supportive commercial entities.
Regrettably, we are not equipped with the necessary facilities to prepare hot meals. Consequently, we are deeply appreciative of the private individuals who reach out to us through our Facebook page to discuss and coordinate the provision of freshly cooked food, which they personally deliver to our distribution points every Saturday in Northampton.
The dedicated team of 100 Ladies Volunteers assembles at the designated location on Abington Street in Northampton, where they establish temporary, foldable tables to present the donated items.
These include a variety of weekly donated food and beverages such as freshly prepared meals, bottled water, soft drinks, tea, and coffee. Additionally, they distribute hot chocolate, seasonal fruits, and an assortment of snacks packaged in takeaway goody bags. The contents of these bags may vary according to the specific items donated and their availability.
Furthermore, our outreach efforts are enhanced by the provision of seasonally appropriate clothing, footwear, and comprehensive hygiene kits, along with essential outdoor survival gear such as sleeping bags and tents.
These items are tailored to accommodate the diverse needs of all individuals, with sizes and types of donations varying to meet the requirements of our recipients.
Our main gig is collecting financial contributions and various goods like food and clothes from the community and local businesses. Since we're not equipped to whip up meals on the spot, we're super grateful for the kind souls who reach out through our Facebook page to chat about cooking up something delicious. They bring their tasty treats to us every Saturday, and let me tell you, it's like a little food festival for the people we serve.
Now, when our rockstar volunteers roll up their sleeves and get to work on Tuesdays, they set up shop on Abington Street with portable tables brimming with goodies. Imagine a smorgasbord of freshly made food, drinks like bottled water, sodas, tea, coffee, and other delightful beverages, along with snacks galore. The weekly goody bags are like a surprise treasure trove, filled with stuff like crisps, biscuits, candy bars, sandwiches, fresh and dried fruits - the works! The contents change week to week, but one thing's for sure, it's always a delightful mix, all thanks to the generous donations we get.
And let's not forget the clothing and toiletries! We get a bunch of seasonal wear and outdoor essentials, like sleeping bags and tents, to give out. It's all thanks to the incredible network of private donors, companies, and charity shops that keep us stocked. It's like a little care package for those who spend their nights out in the cold.
So, if you've got a heart for helping and a bit of free time, come find us on Facebook to see how you can get involved. Whether it's donating, cooking, or just spreading the word, every little bit makes a world of difference. Together, we're making Northampton a better place, one Tuesday night at a time!
